System Vice President of Accounting

 

Location: Southern Market | Corporate Office | Not-for-Profit Healthcare System

 

A large, multi-entity not-for-profit healthcare system is seeking a Vice President of Accounting to lead enterprise-wide accounting operations and financial reporting. This is a highly technical, accounting-focused role with responsibility for internal controls, audits, compliance, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting functions across the system, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting
  • Oversee budgets, internal controls, audits, and operational standards
  • Build and maintain a collaborative, high-performing culture
  • Develop leaders, succession plans, and strengthen organizational accounting capabilities
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives and financial planning

Team & Scope

  • Direct reports: 2 Directors, 2 Managers
  • Total team: ~25–30 accounting professionals
  • May oversee Accounts Payable and other system-wide accounting functions

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting required; CPA required
  • Minimum 5 years of director-level (or above) experience managing multiple campuses
  • Proven experience in large, complex accounting environments; Big Four or public accounting experience preferred
  • Deep knowledge of nonprofit healthcare accounting, GAAP, internal controls, and audits
  • Executive presence with ability to develop leaders of leaders and create accountability-driven teams

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $250,000–$270,000
  • Bonus: 22% MIP
  • PTO: 36 days
  • Car allowance: $650/month
  • Relocation assistance: up to $50,000
  • Comprehensive benefits package

This role reports to the CFO and offers an opportunity to shape the accounting function, develop talent, and drive a culture of accountability and collaboration across a large healthcare system.
